No fees should be charged to authors.

To facilitate access, discovery, interoperability, and reuse, PRELO recommends that journals be registered in the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) and that self-archiving policies be recorded in the SHERPA RoMEO database.

PEER REVIEW

Manuscripts submitted for publication in PRELO’s journals and collections should be subjected to a sound peer review process, defined by the journal’s or collection Editorial Boards, as a guarantee of scientific quality.

COPYRIGHT AND RIGHTS RETENTION STRATEGY

PRELO encourages authors to retain their intellectual property rights. The Rights Retention Strategy means they should not transfer copyright exclusively to the editorial or scientific boards of journals and collections. This mechanism allows authors to retain control over the distribution of their manuscript before, during, and after the peer review process.

The use of third-party material should only be authorised with the appropriate legal consent, obtained in advance by those responsible for submitting the work. The terms of the Creative Commons licences applied to published works do not extend to any non-original content (such as graphics, figures, photos, excerpts, etc.), requiring additional permission from the rights holder. The responsibility for seeking permission and ensuring clear authorisation lies solely with the party reusing the material.

EQUITY, EQUALITY, AND DIVERSITY

PRELO recommends and actively promotes gender equity and equality in the editorial activities of the journals and collections.
It is also strongly advised that editorial and scientific boards of journals and collections hosted on PRELO include external members from outside the NOVA FCSH community, representing different geographical backgrounds.

ETHICS AND INTEGRITY

Journals and collections hosted on PRELO are encouraged to make every effort to ensure that published content does not infringe the rights of any individual or violate applicable legislation in Portugal.

With the increasing use of artificial intelligence in research and publication processes, PRELO asks authors to consider the ethical implications and ensure transparency in the use of AI algorithms and data.

It also warns that plagiarism is ethically unacceptable and can be detected through text similarity tools.

Additionally, PRELO recommends the implementation of a standardised system for assigning authorship roles (such as the Contributor Roles Taxonomy – CRediT), which defines the responsibilities of each participant in the intellectual process, preventing unclear authorship practices that may be ethically questionable and/or legally sanctionable.

RESEARCH DATA

When research data is associated with publications, authors are encouraged to make data available in compliance with the FAIR Principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) and CARE Principles (Collective, Benefit, Authorithy of Control, Responsabilityand Ethics). Data should be deposited in a certified data repository under an open access licence, allowing unrestricted access.

The submitted work must include a “Data Availability Statement” and provide the persistent identifier assigned by the data repository.

A list of data repositories can be found at https://www.re3data.org/

If it is not possible to make data publicly available through open access, a justification must be provided.

Secondary data (obtained from other sources) must be properly credited.

For more information, please refer to the Guia para a Gestão de Dados de Investigação na NOVA FCSH

PID - PERSISTENT IDENTIFIER

To enhance the dissemination and accessibility PRELO recommends the use of persistent identifiers (PID) in compliance with internationally recognised standards:

ORCID – Open Researcher and Contributor ID (for authors)

DOI – Digital Object Identifier

ISSN (for Scientific Journals)

ISBN (for Books)

PUBLICATION LANGUAGES

The affirmation of Portuguese as a publication language assumes strategic importance in the academic and scientific project of NOVA FCSH.

However, in order to increase the widespread dissemination of knowledge, PRELO encourages the promotion of multilingualism and, in particular, the use of English language

PREPRINTS

Considering the current developments in the publishing market and the increasing value placed on the dissemination of research outputs at its earliest stages, PRELO recommends the establishment of a preprints deposit policy in reliable and certified repositories.

LONG-TERM PRESERVATION

PRELO is committed to the long-term preservation of its content, by implementing specific services for this purpose whenever necessary.

Articles in scientific journals and books included in the collections hosted on PRELO, authored by researchers affiliated with NOVA FCSH, can also be preserved in RUN – the Institutional Repository of NOVA University Lisbon.

For more information, please contact us at the following e-mail address: repositorio@fcsh.unl.pt

ACESSO ABERTO O conteúdo disponibilizado pelas revistas e […]

["post-602","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry
["GET
